Mijas Pueblo

The white village with the donkey taxis. It is just 10 minutes away from the house

Can you imagine being able to visit a white village, a coastline with comfortable beaches and some of the best golf courses on the Costa del Sol all in the same municipality? Then pack your bags and discover one of the most original destinations in the province of Malaga.

  • Mijas is 425 metres above sea level and is an independent municipality made up of the towns of Mijas Pueblo (village on the mountain), Mijas Costa (town on the bay), La Cala de Mijas (village by the sea) and Las Lagunas (suburb north of Fuengirola).
  • When you arrive in Mijas Pueblo, it’s best to park in the town’s public car park.
  • This pretty mountain village with its winding streets and sea views offers tourists an all-round experience with the famous donkey taxis, the oval bullfighting arena, the Paseo de la Muralle, the gardens laid out so that flowers bloom all year round. The viewpoint offers incredible panoramic views of the Costa del Sol.
  • The Plaza Virgen de la Pena is the tourist hotspot of Mijas. Here you will find many bars and ice cream parlours. Only a few minutes away from the square you will find the absolute sanctuary for the locals in Mijas – the Ermita Virgen de la Pena. This is a small chapel built in honour of the Virgin Pena (patron saint of Mijas). The chapel is made entirely of stone and is over 300 years old. There is a beautiful view from the chapel and it is located right on the cliffs.

Mijas Pueblo, a village you fall in love with immediately!
